Levi’s Drives Regenerative Cotton Push in Pakistan, Engages 600 Farmers in Early Phase

Levi’s has launched a major sustainability initiative aimed at promoting regenerative cotton farming in Pakistan, marking a significant step toward responsible sourcing in the textile industry. The Regenerative and Resilient Landscape Initiative (LRI), introduced in January in Jalalpur Pirwala in Punjab’s Multan district, focuses on transforming conventional cotton farming practices into regenerative systems that enhance soil health, improve water efficiency, and build resilience against climate change. Within just three months of its launch, the initiative has already engaged nearly 600 farmers, indicating strong early adoption and interest among local communities.

The project is part of the broader Regenerative Production Landscape Collaborative (RPLC), which was established in Pakistan in 2024 to promote sustainable agricultural practices across key cotton-growing regions. By working directly with farmers, the initiative aims to create a more resilient and productive agricultural ecosystem while ensuring long-term sustainability in cotton production. Regenerative agriculture goes beyond traditional sustainable methods by focusing on restoring soil fertility, increasing biodiversity, and improving overall ecosystem health, making it an essential approach for the future of textile raw materials.

For Levi’s, this initiative represents a strategic investment in its supply chain, ensuring access to sustainably produced cotton while supporting farmer livelihoods. The program is expected to deliver multiple benefits, including improved crop yields, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced economic stability for farmers. As global demand for sustainable textiles continues to rise, such initiatives highlight the growing role of brands in driving change at the grassroots level. By aligning environmental goals with economic outcomes, the project sets a strong example for the industry’s transition toward more responsible and resilient production systems.
